2010 TRAINING COURSES

India and the world are facing today the difficult problem of housing & infrastructure shortages and are looking towards appropriate and sustainable building technologies to solve this shortage. Earthen architecture and technology are an answer!

The various courses held in Auroville aim to introduce and promote this technology to architects, engineers, entrepreneurs and students. They will use the AURAM equipment for earth construction and all the technologies developed by Auroville Earth Institute.

The training courses are usually restricted to 30 people and a written confirmation should be obtained before sending persons to attend the courses. The lectures are held in English. Note that the courses are very intensive and that any lecture missed will be detrimental to the trainee. The trainees should bring working clothes for the practical courses.

Ideally the CSEB courses should comprise an architect or an engineer with a supervisor or a technician and a master mason or a student, so that the widest spectrum of teaching can be followed.

The fees include the training expenses for 1 week only, manuals, documentation and site visitation, materials and boarding and lodging. They are related to the documents given, level of understanding and teaching given. The boarding and lodging is in dormitories, in Auroville Earth Institute premises, for 25 men and 5 women
