Auram Earth Block Press (Mud Brick Press): Technical details

The Auram 3000 Earth Block Press, though manually-operated, achieves a very high compression ratio of up to 1.83 with 15 tons available force.

The high compression ratio achieved by the mud brick press produces exceptionally strong compressed earth blocks, allowing multi-storey buildings and large spans to be constructed, utilizing earth architecture and earth construction techniques.

The micro adjustment of the lid ensures very accurate compressed earth blocks (mud bricks), with less than 1mm difference in height. This precision manufacture leads to significant savings in mortar. Plain and hollow earth blocks need only 1 cm of stabilized earth mortar; interlocking locking earth blocks require only 5mm of stabilized earth glue and the dry interlocking earth blocks do not need any mortar at all but a grout cast in the holes.

The desired height of the Auram Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEBs) can be adjusted. Plain earth blocks are normally 9 cm high, but can be made any height from 5 to 10 cm in increments of 5 mm. The Auram 3000 Earth Block Press can also be used to make tiles 2.5 cm thick.

The earth block (mud brick) modules have been created to ease the design work for architects and engineers, who utilize earth architecture and earth construction: private households, institutional buildings, straight shapes or arches, vaults and domes…
